Meet Lauren Field
Lauren Field has both her Special Education and Elementary certifications with over 20 years of teaching experience. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo in 1996, with a major in Early Childhood Development, and her Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1998. She lives in Fairfield, CT with her husband Steve and two children, Aaron and Lucy. In her free time, she loves to exercise, teach yoga to kids, see live music, travel, and spend time with her children and their family dog.
Lauren began her career at PS 6 in New York City as a Learning Specialist, Fourth Grade classroom teacher, Special Education teacher and manager of a collaborative team teaching program in kindergarten. While working at PS 6, Lauren also served as an adjunct lecturer at Hunter College in their Learning Disabilities program. After moving to Connecticut, Lauren worked at The Waterside School (Stamford, CT) and Greenwich Academy (Greenwich, CT) as a Learning and Reading Specialist. Lauren has also been a private Reading Specialist for more than 20 years.
Lauren offers one-to-one tutoring sessions, as well as formal reading evaluations and reading screenings. She uses a combination of standardized and informal assessments to determine where to target instruction. Her tutoring approach includes Orton-Gillingham and other research-based systematic, sequential, multi-sensory, approaches, targeted to address identified needs — while also capitalizing on strengths. She believes that all students learn differently and, therefore, she uses a variety of materials, methodologies, and targeted support to differentiate her instruction.
